Description: Eb (dress from around the world)-
Every Wednesday we have been learning about the inquiry process while finding out about different cultural dress from around the world. The first stage of an inquiry is to gather information ‘Get It’. First we chose a culture we wanted to find out more about and then started researching.

WALT:  respond.


Description:  This term we have been responding to a range of articles/stories and we realised that the way we were responding was difficult for anyone else to understand.  We have been practising writing our responses in full sentences so that anyone who reads them understands us.


Task:  Read the article “La Tomatina” and answer the questions below.


1.  What festival is held in Spain every August? every August la tomatina
2.  What do people do during the festival?during the festival thay throw tomatoes  
3.  How many tomatoes are used in the most epic food fight ever? over 100 tons of over-ripe tomatoes used in the most epic food fight ever
4.  When and why did the festival start? the festival started in 1944 councilmen was attack with tomatoes.
5.  Would you like to visit Bunol, Spain on the last Wednesday of August next year?  Why or why not? yes I would like to I like to I like getting dirty

WALT: Entertain


Description:  We read a story called “The Important Book” written by Margarent Wise Brown.  We looked at the structure of this writing  and decided to use this to create our own writing.


Task:  Choose an object to describe, using the same structure as Margaret Wise Brown in “The Important Book.”


Criteria:
Brainstorm your ideas describing the object that you have chosen.  Use full sentences.
Choose the most important thing.
Make sure that your first sentence and last sentence are the same.
List the ways you describe your object using a comma to separate your ideas.
Edit your work for punctuation, ideas and spelling.

WALT The Learning Pit
Description: We have been learning about when good learning happens.  


Task: Share what you know about the learning pit.

Criteria:
  • Draw the Learning Pit.
  • List at least 3 feelings that you might hard,challenging annoyed 
  • have when you are in the pit. at maths I chose the hard Questions
  • List at least 3 strategies that you could use to get out of the pit. do not give up I can do this never think you are alone
  • Label where good learning happens. in the pit
  • List 3 things you could say to yourself when you are in the pit. do your best do not give up and don't be negative


Evaluation:
Reflect on a time when you have been in the pit. at math I did the hard questions

  • How did you feel when you were in the pit? challenged  
  • What did you do to work out of the pit?I said I can do this
    Feedback/Feedforwrd next time add more words describing the feelings but this is great.

Description: We have been participating in 3 different workshops around colour, compositions and fonts.  We put these skills to use in a poster sharing our knowledge about Te Reo Maori.


Why? We have noticed that our posters are too cluttered and do not communicate a  message well.

teacher- Great clear visuals and good font size. Just check your spelling for macrons and maybe next time you could include the English words as well. - student corban good poster but I do not know if Ipapa is ipad or pencil but other wise very good poster great spot on. from oliver.

and we are in the car driving to the boat we are final got there the is so cool but now we got to drive to the beach safety first he gives me a life jacket so that I don’t sink I jumped on the boat I hold on to the handle so that I don’t fall of we went really fast then we stopped now we can 
fish when I put my line down
and I got a fish then a Northie 

then a Northie then a Northie 

and then a Northie the my brother got a king fish but it was a cm under size so we put it back the end

Smart goals

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.



Purpose: To set a learning goal for school, friendships, sports and personal.
WALT: Set Smart Goals
Task:
S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive.
Specific: Don’t be vague. What exactly do you want?
Measurable: Quantify your goal. How will you know if you’ve achieved it or not?
Attainable: Be honest with yourself about what you can reasonably accomplish at this point in your life, taking into consideration your current responsibilities.
Realistic: It’s got to be doable, real and practical.
